We’re so glad you’re here! Substitute staff play an important role in Bethel School District.
Below are frequently requested resources for substitute staff.

Licensed Substitutes

If you are a licensed substitute, with a current license through Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC), and are interested in working for Bethel School District, you must first register through this Lane ESD link. Once the registration process is completed through Lane ESD, you can stop by our District Office, with your Lane ESD sub card, in order to complete the necessary payroll paperwork and provide identification.

The District Office is located at 4640 Barger Drive, Eugene, and is open between the hours of 7:30 am-5:00 pm Monday through Friday (no appointment needed). Please allow approximately 15 minutes to complete necessary paperwork or you can take it with you and bring it back to our office.

Here’s What You Need to Bring

  1. Forms of identification: Follow this link for a list of acceptable documents.
    • You may present one from List A
    • OR a combination of one selection from List B and one selection from List C.
    • Original documents must be presented and cannot be expired
  2. Optional: A voided check or an official document from your bank that shows your account and routing numbers (direct deposit authorization) in order to sign up for direct deposit. (Direct deposit is optional but encouraged.)
  3. Lane ESD sub card

Contact the district admin office at 541-689-3280 if you have any questions.

Want to become a licensed substitute, but don’t have a teaching license?

Applicants who don’t hold a current license from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) need sponsorship from a school district to become licensed. Bethel School District may be able to provide that sponsorship.

Who can apply: Anyone with a bachelor’s degree. If the district determines it can support your application, you will be responsible for the state licensing fee of approximately $275.

How to apply: Submit an application to the Substitute Teachers – Restricted License Pool

What happens next: Applications are screened weekly. Candidates selected for district sponsorship will receive an email with next steps, including how to apply to Lane ESD for a Lane ESD sub card.
