The District is committed to supporting student wellness, healthy nutrition choices, and opportunities for physical activity as part of Bethel’s overall educational environment. In alignment with federal regulations, the District maintains a Local School Wellness Policy and conducts a triennial assessment to measure implementation and progress toward wellness goals.
The Wellness Policy, triennial assessment results, and District response are available below for public review.

District Response to Triennial Assessment
Bethel’s Triennial Wellness Assessments were conducted across district school sites between February 29, 2024, and May 30, 2024. We appreciate the collaborative work of Lane County Public Health, OSU Extension, and Trillium Community Health Plan in providing a comprehensive evaluation of physical activity and nutrition environments within our schools.
The District recognizes that overall outcomes indicate most schools achieved a “Good Practice” rating, with scores ranging from 58% to 74%, with one site identified as “Fair Practice” due in part to site-specific constraints related to construction and facility limitations. Overall, the assessment indicates that the District is successfully implementing key components of the wellness policy, including nutrition standards, compliance with competitive food regulations, and student wellness initiatives. These results reflect both district strengths and areas requiring continued improvement to ensure consistent implementation of wellness expectations across all schools.
The District Wellness Committee will monitor progress on these action steps and report updates during the next scheduled review cycle.
Based on the assessment results, the District will take the following actions:
- Maintain compliance with current federal and state nutrition standards and wellness requirements
- Continue monitoring implementation of wellness practices across all school sites
- Provide targeted support to schools where consistency or documentation improvements are needed
- Strengthen communication and awareness of wellness policy expectations among staff and families
- Review findings during the next wellness committee cycle to ensure continued progress
The District Wellness Committee oversees ongoing implementation and monitors progress on identified areas for improvement as part of the District’s continuous improvement process.
The District invites public comments or questions.
