Nutrition Services

Our menu items are prepared in the freshest way possible. Kid-friendly favorites are never fried, vibrant all-you-can-eat salad bars are in all our schools, and hot entrees are available daily.

Our school menus feature:

  • A healthy balance of all five food groups: fruit, vegetables, grains, proteins, and milk

  • Locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables

  • Locally produced milk and dairy products

Free breakfast and lunch meals will again be available to all Bethel students throughout the summer months! Children ages 0-18 have access to both breakfast and lunch at two Bethel schools – Prairie Mountain School and Willamette High School.

Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday – Friday

Changes to summer meal distribution

  • No grab-and-go meals: All summer meals will be provided for on-site consumption. Children will be welcomed to eat their meals in our school courtyard-areas.
  • Children accessing the meals must be present to receive them. Parents, guardians and others are not able to take food home with them.
  • Summer meal programs may have to make last-minute changes to the menu, based on availability.

Cambios en la distribución de comidas de verano

  • No hay comidas para llevar: Todas las comidas de verano se proporcionarán para el consumo en el lugar. Los niños serán bienvenidos a comer sus comidas en nuestras áreas de patio de la escuela.
  • Los niños que accedan a las comidas deben estar presentes para recibirlas. Los padres, tutores y otras personas no pueden llevar comida a casa con ellos.

Produce Plus: Las familias de toda la comunidad son bienvenidas a visitar la recogida de productos por orden de llegada de 9:30 a.m. a 12 p.m. todos los miércoles en la Granja de Bethel ubicada detrás de la Escuela de Prairie Mountain, con acceso a través de Patriot Way. El Centro de Recursos Familiares de Cascade

El Centro de Recursos Familiares de Cascade estará disponible para las familias de Bethel durante los meses de verano.   • All Bethel students are eligible to receive one breakfast meal and/or one lunch meal at no charge.

    • No further action is required of families
    • Students can participate in this meal program without submitting a meal application.
    • A second breakfast may be purchased for $1.25.
    • A second lunch may be purchased for $4.50.
       

    To participate in the meal program, students must be served an entire meal. If your student chooses not to participate in the meal program, individual items are available for purchase. 

  • Adult Meals

    Adult Staff and partners can purchase school meals.

    • An adult breakfast meal is $3.00. Breakfast includes an entrée, fruit and milk.
    • An adult lunch is $5.00. Lunch includes a main entrée, salad bar, and milk.
    • Individual juice and milk are available for ¢0.75

    Purchasing

    No more needing to carry cash, check your balance at the counter, or worry about how to pay—we’ll take care of it for you through your paycheck. All staff meal accounts use payroll deduction which is a quicker, easier, and more secure way to pay.

    To purchase meals in our cafeterias, staff will need to: 

    • Sign a form allowing us to deduct meal purchases directly from your paycheck.
    • Know your Bethel ID number when going through the lunch line—just like our students do each day.

  • Bethel follows the USDA’s guidelines for accommodating children with special dietary needs.

    • We offer vegetarian options daily.
    • No item containing tree nuts or peanuts is served.
    • If your child has food allergies, don’t hesitate to get in touch with your school nurse. Additional documentation may be required for a meal modification.

  • Starting in School Year 2014-15, all foods sold at school during the school day are required to meet nutrition standards. The Smart Snacks in School regulation applies to foods sold a la carte, in the school store, vending machines, and any other venues where food is sold to students.   • The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) provides a variety of free, fresh fruit and vegetable snacks to children at eligible elementary schools. This encourages children to try new foods, learn about local seasonal produce as well as exotic produce, and set healthy eating habits to last a lifetime. Schools deliver FFVP tasters along with optional bite-sized nutrition lessons.
