We’re making incredible strides in literacy! Over the past three years, we’ve embraced the Science of Reading, invested in professional development, high-quality curriculum, and strengthened our summer reading programs. Most importantly, we’ve expanded our literacy coaches, who play a key role in supporting teachers and students. And it’s working—more Bethel students are reading at grade level than three years ago! Ensuring every student learns to read is equity in action, opening doors to future success.
Bethel Literacy Coaches work in partnership with administrators and teachers to improve student reading achievement by aligning instructional practices in the Science of Reading and Culturally Responsive pedagogy that elevate student’s voice and identity.
Literacy Coaches work with school teams on making data-based decisions and will work to create systems to support all students in becoming proficient readers.
Bethel Literacy Coaches are assigned to specific schools to assist with language arts curriculum implementation, provide instructional coaching, and also work with MTSS/PLC teams on data analysis and interpretation around reading achievement.
