Announcements

Navigating student illnesses

Across the district and Lane County, students are missing school because they may be sick with influenza (the flu) or flu-like illnesses. Please keep your student at home if they have a fever of 100.4°F or other illness symptoms like cough, body aches, sore throat, intestinal disturbance. Stay home until fever has been gone for 24 hours, without using fever reducing medicines (such as Advil or Tylenol).

If your student is experiencing other medical conditions and is having flu symptoms, contact their healthcare provider. They may prescribe antiviral medication to prevent more severe illness complications.

Classified (BACE) Bargaining

The Bethel School District is beginning the successor bargaining process with our classified employees and our partners at the Bethel Association of Classified Employees (BACE). We value the important contributions of our classified staff and look forward to working collaboratively with BACE to reach a responsible, sustainable agreement. As bargaining dates are scheduled, they will be posted on our district website, along with ongoing updates and information throughout the process.

Shasta School Closure

As we move forward together following the recent decision to close Shasta Middle School at the end of the 2025–26 school year. We know this decision brings many emotions and questions for students, families, and staff. Shasta has been a special place for generations, and we want to acknowledge the deep sense of connection so many of you feel to this school community.

As we begin this transition, our goal is to communicate clearly, listen closely, and support your family every step of the way. We will share monthly updates as planning continues and will provide multiple opportunities for families to offer feedback, ask questions, and stay informed.

Bargaining Update (Licensed Staff)

Bethel School District and the Eugene Education Association (EEA) continue to bargain toward a new licensed staff contract. We greatly value the daily work of our educators in keeping the focus on students and programs, and we remain committed to reaching an agreement that supports students, staff, and our community.
