Bus transportation: What you need to know

9/3/2021

Happy September, Bethel families! We are so very excited to kick off another school year in just a few short days.

In anticipation of a busy first week of school, we wanted to share some information about bus transportation.

The Bethel district is among many school districts across the nation facing a shortage of bus drivers as students return to school amid the continuing coronavirus pandemic. Due to the shortage, school bus stops and services have been reduced, with bus pickup points for students fewer and farther apart.

What this means for families: There may be some delays to our bus routes as we work to establish our new routines, especially during the first few days of school. In addition, we’ll need to adjust our routes in the coming weeks as we learn more about the time needed for each route, so pickup and drop-off times may change.

Morning bus time information: Please visit your individual school sites for morning bus route information.

Afternoon bus routes: We are still working to establish afternoon bus routes as is typical at the start of the school year. Staffing shortages are currently impacting our afternoon drop-off times. Families should expect delays for the first several days of school.

We recognize that the past year has brought upon a number of changes, and Bethel district is incredibly thankful for the patience and understanding that our families have modeled during this pandemic. We expect to hire more drivers in the coming weeks, which will ease some of these issues. In the meantime, however, we ask that families remain flexible as we continue to navigate challenges due to the pandemic.

If you have questions: First Student Transportation will be providing bus services to the majority of our students. Families who have questions regarding bus transportation can call First Student at 541-688-0454. Please note that there will likely be an influx of questions next week and that calls may not immediately be returned.

Additional information will be shared with families as needed. Please feel free to reach out us with questions as they arise.

Have a great first week of school, Bethel!

Hi Jennifer! We are still working to finalize drop-off times. Typically we don’t have those times nailed down for several days into the school year. We’re working to get approximate times to share with families today. Thanks!
