Covid-19 Update, Childcare Financial Assistance and More

COVID-19 Update

Governor Brown has issued new two-week restrictions throughout the state in an attempt to curb the surging number of COVID-19 cases. If the restrictions (including travel restrictions) are successful, the COVID rates could decline and allow us to inch closer to reopening schools to Hybrid Instruction (2 days in school and 3 days online from home).

Click here for a look at this week’s COVID rates in Lane County and how they relate to the reopening of our schools.

We do not have a target date for the start of Hybrid Instruction. However, we are continuing to prepare our schools and update our COVID Operational Blueprints for the eventual return of students when the COVID rates allow.

Lowering the COVID rates so students can return to school has to be a community-wide goal. Just as you model behavior for your children, you can do your part by being diligent in your own health and safety protocols, particularly around Thanksgiving gatherings.

Childcare Financial Assistance

The State of Oregon is helping eligible families pay for childcare during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Working parents are strongly encouraged to click here for more information about the ERDC – Employment-Related Day Care – program.

Eligible families can use a childcare center or a registered or certified family childcare home. You also may be able to use a friend or relative or more than one provider. Each family eligible for childcare assistance pays its provider a portion of the childcare cost, based on the family’s size and income.

Respond to K-3 Survey

K-3 families should have received a very important survey. This will let us know whether their child will return to Hybrid Instruction (in school 2-days a week) when we are able, or whether they will choose to remain in Distance Learning even when students are welcomed back to the classroom. The survey will also have a question about Transportation. We are seeking this information initially from K-3 families because the new COVID-19 metrics emphasize in-person learning for our youngest students first.

If you are the parent of a K-3 student and have not received the survey, please call our school office at 541-607-9700.
