Bethel Restores Two Days To School Year

There’s good news as the school year approaches; Bethel is restoring two days to the end of the school calendar that had been designated as Budget Reduction Days.

The District was able to restore those days next June thanks to slight underspending at the end of the last school year, and slight increases in expected revenue.

This leaves 3 Budget Reduction Days on the calendar, necessary in order to balance the budget:\

  • October 13 (a Teacher Inservice Day when students wouldn’t attend anyway)
  •  November 22 (day before Thanksgiving holiday)
  • June 18

A revised school year calendar will be voted on by the School Board on August 28.

Student Registration Begins

Bethel staff are preparing the student packets for registration. All returning and new students need to be registered for the coming school year.

Yes, it’s time to talk about back-to-school.

Registration for all Bethel students takes place during the week of August 14th. This is for all students, both new and returning.

Click here for the online district calendar to determine exactly when registration takes place at your neighborhood school.

Returning parents will need to update the information on the enrollment form and health form.

New parents should bring their child’s immunization records, a document indicating the child’s proof of age, and any information about previous schools attended. Even parents of kindergartners who pre-registered in the spring need to take part in registration.

If you know your child will not be returning or that it will not be possible for you to register your child during the week of August 14th, please call your school’s office and let them know.

See You In September

Prairie Mountain staff wave goodbye to their students on the last day of school. They’ll be reunited on the first day of the new school year, September 5th.

On the last day of school, the staff lined up along the sidewalk at Prairie Mountain School.

With hugs and cheers, waves and tears, they bid a group-goodbye to the 700+ students that were nurtured for the last ten months.

See KVAL-TV’s coverage of this event.

With music blaring and kids dancing, similar scenes took place throughout Bethel School District.

School will resume Tuesday, September 5th.

And, here’s a list of sites for free summer meals throughout Bethel.

All In The Name Of Science

It may be the world’s most effective way to learn about the Archimedes Principle: “The buoyant force on a body placed in a fluid is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.”

Shasta Middle School 8th graders discovered that the best part of science is experimenting to gain a better understanding, even if that takes you to the deep end of Echo Hollow Pool for the annual Shasta Cardboard Boat races.
