Dear Families,

Our April Family Meeting gave us our best turn-out yet! We have 0ver 20 families join us for pizza and conversation. We talked about Fairfield, our vision for this wonderful little school, and how we can work together as a team to do great things for our kids. The conversation continues Thursday, May 24th. This time we are gathering in the morning from 9:00 – 10:00 for coffee and conversation. Topics of conversation will be focused on activities and programs available to students throughout the summer, planning for family meetings in the coming year, and other topics of interest you have. If you are available, please join us next Thursday. Coffee and treats will be provided! I look forward to continuing our work together.

You are invited to come out Tuesday evening for Pizza and great conversation as our Family Meeting takes a different focus. This Tuesday night at 6:30, you are invited to join in a conversation that focuses on getting to know your child’s principal and the vision for Fairfield. This is a conversation you don’t want to miss as we talk together, share our goals and dreams for our Fairfield kids, and unite as a Fairfield Community to do great things for our students. Come with your appetite, questions, and thoughts you might want to share. I look forward to seeing you, sharing a little of my history, my vision and goals for Fairfield, and walking away with a team of families that are committed to the success of our students.

Don’t forget…Open Enrollment for the 2012-13 school year is about to reach its deadline. If you are seeking a transfer OR you are already enrolled at Fairfield on a transfer, be sure to complete the Transfer Request located on the Bethel Home Page. If you are unable to access it on line, you can still get one from the District Office located on Barger Drive. Your request must be completed and turned in to the Bethel School District Administration office by 5:00 p.m. Monday April 2. If you are already on a transfer, this will be your final transfer request to complete. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Happy Spring Vacation!

Fairfield students have an exciting opportunity during spring vacation. Funded by a grant from Lane Arts Council, artists Alseny Yansane and Andrea DiPalma will be introducing students to the West African Culture through music, dance, and arts. Students are invited to attend free of charge! The Spring Break Camp is on Monday March 26th, Wednesday March 28th, and Thursday March 29th from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Students will learn African poly-rhythmic drumming, traditional and contemporary group dancing, call and response singing and other percussion music like shakers, rhythm sticks, and clapping. The culminating event will be on Thursday, March 29th at 12:00 p.m. for parents to attend.

Tip the Scale Event

Games! Music! Free prizes! Fairfield students and parents have an afternoon of free active fun waiting for them on Saturday, February 25^th at Petersen Barn. The UO, City of Eugene, United Way and others are teaming up for Tip the Scale, three hours of great activities for Fairfield families.

There will also be a free raffle for prizes and lots of valuable ideas and take-home information about healthy lifestyles and interesting local programs to benefit your family. I’m hoping for a great Fairfield turnout. Stop in and check it out at Pete Barn on the 25^th from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

Fairfield Family Meeting – Round 3

Tuesday night, February 21 from 6:30 – 7:30, Fairfield Families are invited to come out and learn more ways to support our kids in their educational journey. Our group will focus in more on the essential skills and ways to increase learning at home and at school. We look forward to a fun evening and hope you can make it. Snacks and childcare are provided!

Kinder Orientation for 2012-2013 is Coming Up!

If you have incoming kinders for the 2012-2013 school year, please plan to attend Fairfield’s Kindergarten Orientation on Tuesday March 6th. We’ll have two sessions in order to best accommodate families. Our first session will go from 3:15-4:30 and our evening session will go from 6:00 – 7:00. You will have the opportunity to meet our kindergarten teachers, learn about programs Fairfield has to offer and sign your child up! Snacks and childcare are provided! We look forward to meeting Fairfield’s newest students.
