Program Information for 2021-22

Bethel Online Academy (BOA) is a full-time learning option for Bethel students who prefer an online learning model rather than attending school in-person. Our program:

  • Is led by licensed Bethel teachers
  • Follows a set schedule of synchronous class times and allows for flexible access to and completion of asynchronous activities
    • K-5 school day is 8:40am-2:45pm
    • 6-8 school day is 8:45am-3:00pm
  • Includes engaging instruction through live daily Zoom classes that is standards-based
  • Provides structured asynchronous learning activities that allow students to practice skills taught during Zoom classes
  • Maintains students’ enrollment in their traditional school so if they decide to resume in-person learning, the transition will be smoother

Bethel Online Academy Includes:

  • Daily contact with Bethel teachers
  • Access to many of the same classes, and generally at the same pace, offered in on-site learning
  • Tutoring and additional academic support available by appointment via phone, Zoom, or in-person
  • Counseling services available through BOA counselors
  • Services for students eligible for English Language Development, IEP, 504, and TAG programs
  • Access to extracurricular activities and affinity groups at some grade levels
  • District-loaned Chromebook
  • Basic school supplies and some other materials provided to BOA students
  • Free Grab ‘n’ Go meals for BOA students available for pick-up at all school sites (sign-up is required

Enrollment/Transfer Policy

If you have a K-8 student currently enrolled in a Bethel school and would like to move them into Bethel Online Academy, that can be done during transfer period windows. Transfer periods are open from:

  • December 13-January 14 for trimester 2 which runs Nov. 29-Mar. 3
  • February 17-March 3 for trimester 3 which runs Mar. 7-June 17

When the transfer window is open, please click this link to fill out a request to move into BOA or to exit BOA and return to in-person learning in the building.

If you have a K-8 student who is moving into the Bethel School District attendance area, your student is not currently attending any of our schools, and you want to choose Bethel Online Academy as your student’s school, you may start in BOA upon entry into the district even if it’s outside of the transfer period window. To do so:

In an effort to adequately serve all Bethel students, and minimize the impact that transferring has on student learning and classroom environment, we will only be opening up opportunities for students to move from BOA to in-person learning and from in-person learning to BOA during the dedicated transfer periods outlined above. Transfers between learning placements will not take place once a transfer window has closed until the next transfer period opens.

If you are a high school student wanting to register for Bethel Online Academy, please contact your high school.
