We are deep into planning as we prepare to open our doors to all students on the first day of school, Wednesday, September 8th.   There are a few things, specific to Malabon, that will help you get ready. We are all looking forward to a safe and exciting 2021-2022 school year.

School Supplies

Your student will only need to bring a backpack, water bottle, and mask to school each day. As in the last few years, Bethel School District will be providing the essential supplies for all students. Each student will be receiving their own box of supplies (crayons, markers, pencils, notebooks, and more) to use throughout the school year. They won’t be sharing with other students. If you have purchased supplies or received supplies from any organization and would like your child to use them in school, they are welcome to bring them in and put them in their individual boxes. All supplies, however, will stay at school throughout the year.

Meet the Teacher Event

New Staff Introductions

Please help me welcome the following new staff members to our team here at Malabon:

Stacie Jubb is Malabon’s new Resource Room teacher (Mr. Peterson has moved to Pennsylvania).  Ella Sembach is our new PE teacher (Mr. Mart is now full time at Fairfield). Alli Shirtcliff will be teaching 4th grade (Rachel Hsieh was hired as a Teacher on Special Assignment working as a teacher mentor for our district), Tyler Skordal will be teaching 5th grade (new position) and Gabie Mbenza-Ngoma will be teaching 5th grade (Rachel Camarena moved to Wisconsin).

Olivia Garcia (3rd), Alex Walker (4th), and Katie Fjordbeck (5th) joined us as temporary teachers last year. I am happy to say that they have been hired and get to call Malabon home! We have also been fortunate to be able to hire a second counselor at Malabon. Eric Given will be sharing his time between Malabon and Meadow View this year.

We have many support staff joining our team as well. Welcome Brandee Yale, who will be our new lead in Malabon’s kitchen. Cheryl Bunnell, Kathleen Burke, Kelly Didio, Alexandria Hoy, Ray Stevens, and Liz Hancock will be joining us, supporting kids throughout the day in a variety of areas.

I have had such a privilege to spend time with each one of these amazing educators and I am so very excited to introduce them all to you and your kids this year!
