Calling all Wolverines! / ¡Llamando a todos los Lobeznos!

Every year, the world gets together to celebrate the individuals who help shape our planet’s future: Teachers. Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4 – 8, 2020) is a time for us to #ThankATeacher, and reflect on how great teachers positively impact students. Are you thinking of a particular teacher right now? Are you remembering a specific instance when a teacher really helped you through a problem or helped you learn a difficult concept? Would you be willing to complete a quick 1-2 minute survey to share a teacher shout out, an awesome memory, or a message of appreciation (click here to complete the survey)? We know that teachers, especially given our current educational circumstances, really care about and are missing Wil-Hi students! Teachers will love hearing from students!

Distance Learning Update

Hi Wolverines,

We hope your first week of Distance Learning is going well. We know that Willamette teachers are excited to be reconnecting with students!

Last night, April 15th, 2020, the Oregon Department of Education released guidance specific to supporting our 9th to 11th grade students during Distance Learning. That guidance can be read here. It is a detailed document and we are collaborating to interpret all of the information and apply the guidance to our work in Bethel. They are very clear about one point in particular that I would like to highlight at this time – “All districts in Oregon will move from letter grades to Pass / Incomplete for students enrolled in high school courses for the remainder of this school year.” This directive applies to all second semester classes, including the learning that occurred before the school closure and learning that will occur during Distance Learning for All.  We will continue to review the rest of the guidance and provide an update in the near future.

Please review this Frequently Asked Questions document for answers to common questions.

We are proud to be on this journey with you!

Sincerely,

The Willamette Team

Hola Wolverines,

Sinceramente,

El Equipo de Willamette
