Shasta’s bands and choirs will be performing at the Hult Center, tonight for our Annual Winter Concert at 7:00 p.m. This has been a tradition for 30 years! The Hult Center is the only facility that can accommodate our choir and band performing together. Tickets are still available! Click here for ticket information and to print off a ticket order form. We hope you can join us for this wonderful evening at the Hult Center.
State Testing Approaches
Here is some important information about this school year’s state tests.
Each spring, Oregon students in grades 3-8 and 11 participate in state assessments in English Language Arts (ELA), Math, and Science. Rather than multiple-choice questions, today’s tests ask students to explain their reasoning and, often, write out their answers. The new assessments measure more complex skills such as critical-thinking, writing, and problem solving so that schools and parents can assess whether children are on-track to graduate high school ready for college or a career.
Students will take the state tests again this coming spring. While the tests cannot tell us everything about your child’s academic progress, the results do act as a snapshot of your child’s strengths and areas for improvement in those subject areas. The tests help Bethel School District get a more complete and accurate picture of how all Bethel students are performing, as we assess curriculum, review instructional strategies, distribute resources, and continue to improve our educational system. There are multiple sources to determine whether Bethel School District is on a Late Start or is having a Snow Day.
First and foremost, check our school web page or on the District home page.
If you see no news, it means all Bethel schools are on their regular schedules.
In addition, you can be the first to get news on weather-related school closures or delays by following Superintentent Chris Parra on Twitter at @Bethel_Supt and the District Twitter account at @Bethel_Schools.
Families are also encouraged to use the free FlashAlert system which provides notifications via email or a push notification with a free FlashAlert phone app. FlashAlert is the same system the school district uses to notify local media when there is a weather or emergency-related closure of a school.
Download the FlashAlert app or click here: http://www.flashalert.net/id/BethelSD
Due to extreme weather conditions of possible snow, rain, and high winds at the Whittaker Creek area, we will be canceling the 6th Grade Salmon Watch on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but want to keep our students safe. Thank you for your understanding. We will keep you posted on if/when the field trip is rescheduled.
