About Shasta
Shasta is composed of three houses with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in each house. Each of the houses was named for a mountain range in Oregon: the Blues, the Wallowas and the Ochocos.
Students usually receive core instruction in math, science, language arts and social studies in their house and usually remain in the same house for all three years at Shasta.
Shasta is an inclusive environment. Most students receive core content instruction in the general education classroom. Special education instructors work collaboratively with content teachers to support differentiated instruction for students of all levels. Each house also has at least one educational assistant who supports the teachers’ instruction in the classroom.
