Hello Prairie Mountain Students and Families,
Happy New Year! Thank you to everyone who attended our PTO meeting this week. It was a great meeting filled with lots of fundraising information, including share-outs from Project-Leaders, moneys raised, and upcoming projects on the Mountain. I was able to share our student behavioral data for the month of December, information about our upcoming On the Path to Graduation evening for 7th and 8th grade students and families, the recent installation of Feminine Hygiene Dispensers, interest in planning/organizing a Science Fair, and recent conversations as a staff around the implementation of Calm Corners in our classrooms. It was a great night! I would encourage you all to come on out to our PTO meetings to learn more about our amazing school and upcoming events.
Thanks again and Go Eagles!
A great way to be an active part of our school community is to attend PTO meetings. PTO meets the first Tuesday of each month in our caforium at 5:30. Childcare, light snacks and interpreters are always provided.
At every PTO meeting you’ll get a chance to hear about upcoming events, learn more about our school climate and goals, meet other parents, and hear from staff members.
EVERYONE in our school community is welcome to join us. We need your voice and input.
See you all tomorrow night at 5:30.
Make Your Voice Heard
We need to hear about how to better support your child. Bethel will be receiving increased school funding as promised through Oregon’s Student Success Act. Now, you can share your thoughts and ideas about how to best spend this new revenue.
All Prairie Mountain parents and guardians are invited to a special Bethel School District community-wide meeting. Your input is valuable. Here is a preview of a few questions we will be asking:
— What school services have supported your child’s success in school?
— What are missing supports and opportunities for your child?
— What are your ideas for better supporting other students in the district?
When: January 9th or 14th, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Where: Willamette High School cafeteria
Child Care: To request free child care, please RSVP by January 6th to email@example.com
Translation: The district will provide free translation services at both meetings
Please join us for one of the two meetings in January. It is a real opportunity to advocate for your child. Contact me if you have any questions.
We are experiencing a high number of absences due to students being ill.
If your child is sick, the following will help you and help prevent others from getting sick:
- Stay at home for 24 hours until after fever has resolved without the aid of fever reducing medicines (e.g., Advil or Tylenol)
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when sick. Maintain distance from other people to prevent the spread of illness.
- Wash hands often with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are also helpful in reducing the spread of the flu.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with tissues or by coughing into the inside of the elbow. Wash hands after blowing the nose or coughing into a tissue and dispose of tissues after use.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth to prevent the spread of germs.
- Get the flu vaccine! The flu vaccine is the best way to prevent seasonal flu.
