Rummage Sale Saturday – Looking for some great bargains and a way to support Prairie Mountain kids? Come to the PTO-sponsored rummage sale on Saturday. Doors open promptly at 9 a.m. and the sale will be held in the south gym. There will be toys, clothes, some furniture, and household items; big ticket items will be priced, all other items will be a freewill donation. Thanks for supporting PTO!!!
The Hound of the Baskervilles – Looking for some great entertainment this weekend? The Prairie Mountain Players present Sherlock Holmes The Hound of the Baskervilles. Performances are Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students.
Venta de objetos usados sábado – ¿Buscan buen precios y una forma de apoyar a los niños de la escuela Prairie Mountain? We’re so lucky to have a school climate that gets students excited about what’s waiting for them just around the corner. “Move Around Day” is designed to give students a peek at the great things that await them in the next school year.
While younger grades were visiting upper grades, our 8th grade students were treated to a presentation by guest speaker Kristina Holton from Lane Community College. She gave our students lots of good reasons to start thinking about college right now.
Reading Brings Rewards
Oral Reading Fluency measures are given to students in the fall, winter and spring. The spring measures are significant because they show reading progress that has occurred over the course of the year. Students are typically very pleased to see that their hard work has really paid off.
If you are looking for ways to keep your student interested in reading over the summer, opportunities abound at the Eugene Public Library.

Teacher Appreciation Week – This is National Teacher Appreciation Week and a time when we say thank you to all Prairie Mountain Staff. Whether teaching a child to read, supervising on the playground, planning and delivering an engaging math lesson, sharing a love of books in the Library, greeting students in the office, serving a delicious (and nutritious) and lunch, cleaning classrooms, or providing TLC, this building is full of dedicated professionals. To each and every one of them, we say thank you! If you haven’t thanked your child’s teacher this year, please take a moment to do so this week.
Rummage Sale – The countdown continues to this popular event on Saturday, May 18th. Doors will open promptly at 9 a.m. Have items to donate? You can bring them this Saturday 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. or next Tuesday May 14th 3-6 p.m.
Free Dental Services – The Lane Community College Dental Clinic is offering free dental care for children ages 5-18. Services for uninsured and underinsured children include cleaning, x-rays, dental exams, and restorative services. The next dental clinic is Saturday, May 11th at LCC.For more information and to make an appointment call 541-463-5206.
Opening Night – Our middle school drama group has been busy learning lines, building sets and preparing for opening night. ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ premiers this Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Performances are this weekend Friday and Saturday (May 10th and 11th) at 7:00 p.m. and the following weekend, Saturday May 18th at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday May 19th at 2:00 p.m.
Semana de apreciación de maestros – esto es Semana Nacional de la apreciación del profesor y un momento cuando decimos gracias a todo personal de la escuela Prairie Mountain. Sea enseñando a un niño a leer, supervisando en el patio, planificación o instrucción de una lección de matemáticas, compartiendo un amor por los libros en la biblioteca, saludando a los estudiantes en la oficina, sirviendo deliciosas (y nutritivas) comidas, limpieza de aulas, o mostrando TLC (en ingles significa tierno amor y cariño), este edificio está lleno de profesionales dedicados . Venta de objetos usados – Muy pronto se esta aproximando este evento popular. Será el sábado, 18 de mayo. Puertas abrirán puntualmente a las 9 AM. ¿Tiene algo para donar? Usted puede traerlo este sábado de las 11 a.m – 2 p.m.o el próximo martes 12 de mayo de las 3 a 6 p.m.
Servicios dentales gratuitos - La Clínica Dental del Lane Community College ofrece atención dental gratuita para niños edades 5-18. Servicios para los niños sin seguro y con seguro insuficiente incluyen limpieza, radiografías, exámenes dentales y servicios de restauración.
La clínica dental será el próximo sábado,11 de mayo en LCC.

Noche de apertura – nuestro grupo de teatro de secundaria ha sido ocupado aprendiendo líneas, sistemas de construcción y preparándose para la noche de apertura. Se estrena “El sabueso de los Baskerville” este viernes por la noche en 7:00 p.m. actuaciones serán este fin de semana el viernes y el sábado (10 y 11 de mayo) a 7:00 p.m. y el siguiente fin de semana, el sábado 18 de mayo a las 2:00 y el domingo 19 de mayo a las 2:00 p.m.

Bethel International Fair
Read A Thon – The annual Prairie Mountain Read A Thon is well underway. Elementary students celebrated reading on Monday with a very fun assembly featuring Juggler Tom Question. Read A Thon packets and pledges are due next Tuesday, May 7th. All proceeds go to the Prairie Mountain Parent/Teacher Organization to support enrichment activities (such as field trips) for students.
Interim Progress Reports – Hard to believe we are midway through the third trimester. Interim progress reports for middle school students will come home next week. Questions about your child’s progress report? Please contact your child’s teacher.
College Knowledge Night – This is a very important night for 8th graders and their families. College Knowledge Night is coming to Willamette High School on Thursday, May 9th from 6-8:30 p.m. Representatives from over 50 public and private colleges, universities and college access programs will be available. You can learn how to choose a best match college, where to find money, open a college savings account and enter to win one of four scholarships. Yes, even if you’re still in middle school! Walk and Bike To School Day – Get your day off to an active start next Wednesday, May 8th, for the spring Walk and Bike to School Day.
Looking Ahead to 2013-2014 – We are beginning to plan for 2013-2014. If your child will not be returning to Prairie Mountain, please call the school office and let us know. We also will have parent input forms available on Monday, May 6th if you want to give input into the type of classroom where your child learns best. Input forms must be received by Friday, May 17th at 4:00 p.m. Please know that while your input will be considered, the final decisions on class placements will be made by the school team.
Un maratón de lectura –El maratón de lectura de la Escuela Prairie Mountain esta de marcha. Los estudiantes de primaria celebraban la lectura el lunes con una asamblea muy divertido con entretenimiento de parte malabarista Tom. Promesas de apoyo y paquetes del maratón de lectura se tienen que entregar para el próximo martes, 7 de mayo. Todos los beneficios van a la organización de padres/maestros de Prairie Mountain para apoyar las actividades de enriquecimiento (como viajes) para los estudiantes.
Informes de progreso interino – difícil de creer que estamos a medio camino a través del tercer trimestre. Informes provisionales para los estudiantes de middle school o grados 6 al 8, llegarán a casa la semana que viene. ¿Preguntas sobre el informe de progreso de su hijo? Noche de conocimiento universitaria está llegando a la High School secundaria de Willamette el jueves 9 de mayo de 6-20:30.Se representaran más de 50 colegios públicos y privados, universidades y programas de acceso a la Universidad estarán disponibles. Usted puede aprender cómo escoger un mejor colegio o universidad, donde encontrar dinero, abrir una cuenta de ahorros de la Universidad y entrar para ganar uno de las cuatro becas. Incluso los que todavía se encuentran en los grado 6 a 8, podrán encontrad mas información en el cito incluido:
Día de ir a pie o en bicicleta a la escuela ¡Que mejor manera de disfrutar de la primavera! Camina o usa su bicicleta para ir a la escuela el día miércoles. 8 de mayo.
Mirando adelante para 2013-2014 – estamos empezando a planear para 2013-2014. Si su hijo no regresará a la Escuela Prairie Mountain, por favor llame a la oficina de la escuela y déjanos saber. También tendremos disponibles las formas de preferencia, si desea dar información en cuanto el tipo de aula donde su niño aprende mejor puede usar estas formas. Estas formas deben ser recibidas antes del viernes, 17 de mayo a las 4:00pm. Por favor toman encuentra de que mientras se considerará sus preferencias, las decisiones finales en cuanto las colocaciones de clase serán decididas por el equipo de la escuela.
