Updates on DACA Renewals/ Actualizaciones Sobre Renovaciones de DACA

Due to a federal court order, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service has resumed accepting requests to renew a grant of deferred action under DACA beginning January 13, 2018.  Until further notice, and unless otherwise provided in this guidance, the DACA policy will be operated on the terms in place before it was rescinded on Sept. 5, 2017.

February brings Friendship, Food, and Fun to Prairie Mountain

We’re looking forward to activities in the month of February that help our students thrive and focus on our life skills of Problem-solving, Responsibility, Integrity, Determination, and Empathy (PRIDE).

Love Your Neighbor Food Drive:  Prairie Mountain students in K-8 are joining Food for Lane County’s efforts to collect food for our community.  The food drive running Feb. 1-16 at PM presents a great opportunity to focus on empathy and community building, and for K-5 classrooms to highlight CATCH concepts of Go, Slow, and Whoa foods as they consider recommendations from Food for Lane County about nutritious foods.  Students K-8 can participate in a number of ways (contributing, promoting, sorting, counting, organizing) in this school wide effort to help our community.  Let’s go, Eagles! Bethel 8th-Graders Benefit from Huge Grant

A $332,000 state grant will allow Bethel 8th graders to take CTE courses in Robotics, Culinary Arts and Digital Design. CTE (Career Technical Education) is a recognized strength in Bethel School District at the high school level.

Beginning next fall 8th graders will be able to take after school classes that feed directly into established CTE courses at Willamette High School. Called CTE Cruise, the middle school courses will also help attract more girls to CTE programs in which they have traditionally been underrepresented.

Bethel is among only a handful of districts to be awarded this grant money from the state. In addition, Measure 98 CTE funds will be used to expand the 10 CTE classes that Bethel already offers at the high school level.

School Resumes Tuesday, January 2

We’re looking forward to seeing students return to school on Tuesday, January 2.   HW Club for students in ELD in grades 1-8 will start up again as well that Tuesday.   See you in 2018!
