Eagle Update from Mrs. Killen

Our First Graders shared the gift of music with their family and friends.

Prairie Mountain Family,

It was delightful to hear our first graders perform for our K-5 classes and also for their families last Thursday.   Thanks to Mr. Lasley and our first grade teachers for their help preparing our young musicians!   Our middle school students worked on setting personal records at the recent track meet and ending the season well.  Our thanks to staff who helped out with track this year, Ms. Roe, Ms. Anderson for grades 6-8 and Ms. Zwink and Ms. Dorris for grades 4-5.

This is such a fun time of year at Prairie Mountain, with exciting field trips happening for various grade levels and evidence of some significant academic strides forward for students.  We’re looking forward to end-of-the year events including our Family Fun Night at PM and Summer Band Concert at WHS on June 7th, and 8th grade trip on June 13th and 8th grade departure ceremony and dance on June 14th.  Additional information will be coming out about those events soon.

As we look ahead to next year, if your family is moving and  your child will not be returning to Prairie Mountain, please call the school office and let us know.  We also will have parent input forms available in the main office if you want to give input into the type of classroom where your child learns best.  Input forms must be received by Tuesday, May 29h at 12:00 p.m. Please know that while your input will be considered, the final decisions on class assignments will be made by the school team.

Important Information for Families

Dear Prairie Mountain Families,

We want to make sure families are aware that there have been a number of whooping cough (pertussis) reported in our region.  We now have at least one confirmed case involving a Bethel student. Although this is not a health emergency, the Lane County Health Department wants to make sure this contagious disease of the respiratory system does not spread any further. Please do read the attached message to learn more about whooping cough.  It includes information about what families can do if they suspect someone in the family may be infected.
