Open Enrollment at Prairie Mountain

Open Enrollment is now open!

Families who live outside of Prairie Mountain’s attendance boundary who would like to enroll at Prairie Mountain have the option of completing Open Enrollment.
Open Enrollment allows transfer students to be permanently enrolled students instead of transfers. Students attending under Open Enrollment are not required to complete transfer paperwork every year.

BINGO Night was so much fun!   Thank you to staff, 8th grade students, and all the many parent volunteers who helped make the event a success.  And, thank you to each grade level at Prairie Mountain that gathered items for baskets for the raffle to support our 8th grade students. 

On Friday, our 7th grade students visited OSU for science activities and a campus tour.  Our 4th and 5th grade students heard from Oregon’s Kid Governor, and we were able to celebrate success of our K-5 students at our PRIDE Assembly.  It was a busy and fun week.  March holds plenty of great opportunities for our students.  Here are a few:

March 12–K-5 students engage in a daily Kindness Challenge between now and Spring Break

PTO’s Monster Cookie Dough Fundraiser continues through March 20.

March 13–4th Grade students visit the Hult Center

March 14–3rd Grade Music Assembly during the day and performance at 6:30 

March 15–Last day of Trimester 2

March 16–Grading Day—No School

March 19–Winter Band Concert at 7:00 at WHS Powers Auditorium

March 19-23–Spirit Week:  Look for information coming home regarding themes for each day.

March 22–6th-8th PRIDE Assembly;  West African Cultural Arts Institute Drumming Performance at 6:30 in our Caforium

 March 23–Middle School Social during the school day

 March 24-April 1–Spring Break


Bingo Night: Thursday, March 8th

If you’re looking for an evening of family fun, then you’ll want to join us on Thursday, March 8th from 6:30pm-8:00pm for our annual BINGO NIGHT! This event is a fundraiser for our 8th grade students’ end-of-year trip and celebration. It is a favorite among Prairie Mountain staff, students, and families each year! All Prairie Mountain families are invited and welcome to attend. There will be some wonderful prizes, as well as snacks available for purchase.

New This Year: You can buy “Bingo Bucks” to be used for Bingo games or snacks. You can pay by credit/debit card or with cash. Sorry, we cannot offer a refund on any unused portion of purchased Bingo Bucks.

Busy Days Ahead


Dear Prairie Mountain Families,

We’re excited that March is here and Spring is just around the corner.  The week ahead brings lots of learning and fun to Prairie Mountain.  Read below for a few upcoming events:

PTO Meeting:   All are welcome to attend our PTO’s next meeting on Tuesday, March 6 from 2:30-3:30 in our Elementary Library.  Come find out about school happenings and how you can be involved in school programs.  Childcare is available.

PTO’s Monster Dough Cookie Fundraiser:  The fundraiser will kick off this Tuesday, March 6th as order forms go home to families. All cookie dough orders & payment will be due back to school on Tuesday, March 20th, and delivery/Pick-up of Cookie Dough will be on Thursday, April 5th.  Anyone interested in helping with the fundraiser please email the PTO at

8th Grade Forecasting:   Counselors from Willamette High School will visit Prairie Mountain classes this Thursday, March 8 to assist students with completing the forecasting process as the select classes for their freshman year at WHS.  Thank you for talking at home about course selection and high school success so they can complete the forecasting process on Thursday.

K-8 Bingo Night:   Plan to join us on Thursday, March 8 from 6:30-8:00 for our annual BINGO NIGHT for all K-8 families. The evening serves as a fundraiser for our 8th grade students’ end-of-year trip and celebration and is a favorite each year!

K-5 PRIDE Assembly:   We’re looking forward to recognizing elementary students for demonstrating our school’s life skills of Problem-solving, Responsibility, Integrity, Determination, and Empathy this Friday, March 9th and kicking off March’s Kindness Challenge.

The week ahead holds excursions in 2nd grade and 7th grade as well as a visit from Oregon’s Kid Governor speaking on his anti-bullying platform for our 4th and 5th grade students.  We so enjoy working with your children every day!  It’s a true privilege to involve them in great learning opportunities and see them grow.




No School Day

Friday, March 2nd will be a “no school day”  for all Prairie Mountain students. Teachers across the district will be working collaboratively on curriculum development. Enjoy your long weekend!
