News For Incoming Kindergarten Students

Now in its 5th year, the Kindergarten Smart Start program is a carefully designed process intended to ensure a successful transition into kindergarten for your child.

During the first week of school, your child will attend school one day. During the second week of school, from Monday through Thursday, your child will attend school on a staggered start, a half-day either in the morning or afternoon. This will enable kindergarten staff to:

  • Introduce your child to school in small groups with a supportive team of educators
  • Teach expectations and routines as they learn about recess on the playground
  • Teach cafeteria procedures as they eat lunch
  • Assess students in academic areas and school readiness activities in small groups
  • Meet with families to learn more about your child
  • Determine classroom assignments to best meet the educational needs of every child

Smart Start also allows time for you to meet with your child’s kindergarten teacher before the school year begins. At this meeting, you can help the teacher get to know your child and ask any questions you may have about the upcoming school year.

During registration, you will sign up for a time to meet with your child’s classroom teacher on Thursday, September 5th or Friday, September 6th and indicate a preference for either the morning or afternoon for staggered start the second week of school (September 9-13).  Your school will notify you of the exact time of your parent/teacher meeting and confirm your staggered start time.

Ahora en su quinto año, el programa del inicio inteligente es un proceso cuidadosamente diseñado destinado a garantizar una transición exitosa al jardín de infantes para su hijo.

 

Durante la primera semana de clases, su hijo asistirá a la escuela algún día. Durante la segunda semana de clases, de lunes a jueves, su hijo asistirá a la escuela de manera escalonada, medio día, ya sea por la mañana o por la tarde. Esto permitirá que el personal de jardín de infantes:

  • Presente a su hijo a la escuela en pequeños grupos con un equipo de educadores de apoyo.
  • Enseñe expectativas y rutinas a medida que aprenden sobre el recreo en el patio de recreo.
  • Enseñe los procedimientos de la cafetería mientras almuerzan.
  • Evaluar a los estudiantes en áreas académicas y actividades de preparación escolar en grupos pequeños.
  • Reúnase con las familias para aprender más sobre su hijo.
  • Determinar las tareas en el aula para satisfacer mejor las necesidades educativas de cada niño.

Durante el registro, se inscribirá por un tiempo para reunirse con el maestro de su hijo el jueves 5 de septiembre o el viernes 6 de septiembre e indicará una preferencia por la mañana o la tarde para el comienzo escalonado de la segunda semana de clases. (9-13 de septiembre). Su escuela le notificará la hora exacta de la reunión de padres / maestros y confirmará su hora de inicio escalonada.

Teachers and students were so appreciative of your amazing generosity. These snacks were a huge success because we were able to nourish our kids as they worked diligently on doing their very best on their state assessments. Kudos to these businesses, for understanding the importance of giving back to their communities. We are so thankful and appreciative of your generous spirit.

Eagles Soaring Dirty for a Good Cause Tomorrow

The First Annual Middle School Dirty Dash is TOMORROW, Tuesday, June 4th.  The event will be a combination of running, jogging, and walking through a variety of fun obstacles, including the Tiresport Tire Step & Tire Crawl, Express Clean Belly Crawl, JFI Construction Towering Wall, Megan Naslund Pro Realty Hay Bale Pyramid, Westside Faith Center Mud Pit, and the Castle Storage Slip & Slide! Our goal as a school is to raise at least $5000, and we know that we can do anything when we all work together! 

WE NEED YOU!! We need students and families to help make this a successful fundraiser. The goal is for every Middle School student to raise $25.00 or more! Students will ask for donations from family, friends, neighbors, coaches, and community members to sponsor them in the Dirty Dash. Donations can be made with cash/check or online through 99 Pledge. https://99pledges.com/fund/PrairieMountain2019

The more money kids raise – the more chances they have to WIN! Some of the items include gift cards to DEFY, Get Air, NW Ninja Park, Radar Toys, Putters, PM t-shirt, Dirty Dash Hat & T-Shirt and some Willamette High School Gear. With each level of donations, you get more chances to win raffle prizes!

Please note: ALL PLEDGE MONEY IS DUE THE DAY OF THE EVENT.

Dirty Dash Incentives:

  • Minimum of $25 – Sparrow Level: 5 Raffle tickets for the EPIC Prize Pack!
  • Minimum of $50- Raven Level: 10 Raffle tickets for the EPIC Prize Pack!

We are Bethel Celebration

Make plans to have fun at the We Are Bethel Celebration, Saturday, June 1 at Petersen Barn Park.

The free party includes performances by the Meadow View and Cascade Jazz Bands, Danebo 5th Graders, the Cascade Choir, and the Latin band Taller son Jarocho.

Join the gunnysack three-legged race, egg on spoon race, and balloon-popping relay races.

Visit the community booths and carnival games, or the three food carts: Porky’s Piglet, Vegi Moto, and Sweet Bay Shaved Ice.

The Celebration starts at noon and lasts until 4:00.

Haga planes para divertirse en la celebración de We Are Bethel, el sábado 1 de junio en Petersen Barn Park.

La fiesta gratuita incluye actuaciones de las bandas de jazz Meadow View, Cascade, Danebo 5th Graders, Cascade Choir y la banda latina Taller y su hijo Jarocho.

Únase a la carrera de tres patas, la carrera de huevo con cuchara, y las carreras de relevos de reventar globos.

Visite las cabinas de la comunidad y los juegos de carnaval, o los tres carritos de comida: Porky’s Piglet, Vegi Moto y Sweet Bay Shaved Ice.
