Student Enrichment Resources

Here is some good news! First of all, we sincerely hope you are all healthy. Let’s continue to watch out for each other.

This week was scheduled to be Spring Break before our school calendar was interrupted. We are still attempting to get a clearer picture of what to expect for the next several months.

In the meantime, our Bethel staff have been working to plan materials and activities for students in all grade levels. We intend to offer continued supplemental enrichment for your child while schools are closed.

Supplemental Materials: Materials will be available to you on April 6th in two formats: online and hard-copy paper packets. These will be made available each week throughout the closure. We are working hard to ensure that all supplemental materials are accessible to all of our students.

Enrichment: In the meantime, we have vetted and collected resources to support the enrichment of your student. Click here to access these enrichment resources.

Check-In: Your child’s teachers will be contacting you after Spring Break to share more information about the supplemental materials, and simply because they miss their students!

High School Students: All families have questions about what is happening with high school students. The Oregon Department of Education is currently working on a plan to address the unique needs of high school students during this closure. We know that high school students and their families are concerned about credits, as well as various tests such as SAT, IB and AP. We will communicate details once guidance from ODE is provided.

These are unprecedented times which result in many questions. We will share more information with you as soon as we get it. In the meantime, take good care of yourself and those around you.

To All Prairie Mountain Families / A todas las familias de Prairie Mountain

Sending you love and encouragement from Prairie Mountain!

Hello Prairie Mountain Families,

Each day that Christy and I come into work, you all are the number one thing on our minds.  Even though these times have been unstable, uncertain, and scary, we have seen kindness and love triumph through it all.  We have seen parents reaching out to each other offering their help throughout the day.  We have seen staff members finding ways to provide support to students and families by cleaning our buildings and serving food in our communities.  And we have seen students, creating messages of hope, love, and reassurance for all in our community to see.  We are so proud of how we have all come together during this difficult time.  This truly is the Bethel way.

We are so proud of our Prairie Mountain team.  A special thank you to all of the folks who have come in all week to help organize, sanitize, contact families, and feed our kids in the community. We are so grateful for you and appreciate your help.

As you all know, Bethel is working very hard to meet the immediate needs of students and families. We have opened 10 sites to provide breakfast and lunch (Children 18 and below do not need to be present). Two of the added sites are at Woodland Park, and at Albertson’s Grocery on Royal.  Both of these food sites provide more access to meals for Prairie Mountain families. Our district is committed to serving Grab and Go Meals during Spring Break.

10:00- Noon: Grab and go meals will continue to be provided at Fairfield, Malabon, Prairie Mountain, and Willamette.

10:30- 11:15: Trainsong Park, 2775 Edison St., Woodland Park Estates, 1699 N. Terry, Alvadore Christian Church, 27373 8th St, Junction City

11:30- Noon: Lark Park, Coraly Ave. and Duke Snider Ave., Albertson’s Grocery, 4740 Royal Ave.,
Orchard Point Mobile Park, 27171 Clear Lake Rd.

We have also shared community resources for health access, mental health supports, and housing assistance (please continue to check out PM’s blog).

Two days ago, the Governor issued an executive order to close schools until April 28th and spoke about supplemental education. In the next day or so, ODE will offer guidance on what “supplemental education” entails. Our district leaders and school administrator team are currently working together to begin this planning.

Most staff members in the district will be off next week as it is Spring Break.  This includes teachers. After spring break, district leadership and administrators will be working with teachers on next steps regarding supplemental instruction based on ODE guidance.

We hope that you are all staying healthy and finding moments throughout your day to enjoy one another.  Again, we promise to communicate information with you as it comes to us.  Please tell your students that we miss them and that we are thinking of them every day.  We say this a lot on the Mountain, that we do our best work when we do it together, and that it takes a village.  I believe that these two ideas especially apply to us now.  Be intentional every day to show kindness and caring to all people.

With love,

RW and Christy

10:30- 11:15: Trainsong Park, 2775 Edison St., Woodland Park Estates, 1699 N. Terry, Alvadore Christian Church, 27373 8th St, Junction City

11:30-Mediodía: Lark Park, Coraly Ave. and Duke Snider Ave., Albertson’s Grocery, 4740 Royal Ave., Orchard Point Mobile Park, 27171 Clear Lake Rd.

RW and Christy
