Oregon Black Education Foundation Donates Thousands to Kalapuya students

Senator James and Lawanda Manning presented scholarships and lawn signs to Kalapuya’s 2020 graduating class.

Kalapuya students are once again receiving multiple supports from the Oregon Black Education Foundation. Rosaleena Hernandez, Brookyly Howard-Hurd, and Hanna Wojtowicz were recipients of this year’s OBEF $1,000 scholarship to pursue their secondary education. Every year for the past five years, OBEF has been supporting students at Kalapuya and throughout Lane County with scholarships that will allow them to continue their post-secondary education. This funding supports the individual dreams and aspirations of our students and can have transformative effects on our students’ lives.

In addition to scholarships, OBEF and local business owner Joyce Malone of PostNet partnered to support our entire graduating class of 2020 by donating individual lawn graduation announcements with color photos for each of our 70 graduating students! This surprise gift and the continued generosity and support of our students from these local organizations and businesses is tremendously appreciated.
