Bethel Adds Two Days To School Year

Hi Irving Families,

Here’s great news before the school year starts: our district is restoring two days to the end of the school calendar that had been designated as Budget Reduction Days.

The District was able to restore those days next June thanks to slight underspending at the end of the last school year, and slight increases in expected revenue.

This leaves 3 Budget Reduction Days remaining:
• October 13 (a Teacher Inservice Day when students wouldn’t attend anyway)
• November 22 (day before Thanksgiving holiday)
• June 18

I’ll send you a revised school year calendar in two weeks after it is officially approved by the School Board. Meanwhile, this news is a real boost for everyone and the excitement is building for the start of the school year at Irving Elementary.

Time to Register for School

Electronic Waste Recycling Contest

Irving Families,

This week, May 15th-May 19th Irving is participating in an Electronic Waste Recycling Contest through NextStep and Partners for Sustainable Schools.  Flyers went home in Friday folders. Electronic recycling

Here’s how it works:

  1.  Families/staff/neighbors can donate electronics directly at NextStep.  Just tell NextStep you are donating for Irving Elementary.  NextStep will add the total collected pounds to Irving’s total.  (Drop off location: 2101 W. 10th Ave, Eugene)
  2. Families/staff/neighbors can donate directly at school between May 15th-19th.  There is a large collection box near the front office door.

What can be donated?

If it plugs in or runs on batteries… it can be recycled by NextStep! Computers, cell phones, monitors, cables, laptops, keyboards, mice, hair dryers, blenders, monitors, coffee makers, toasters and much, much more.  Light bulbs and regular batteries are not part of this collection but rechargeable batteries are welcome.

Thanks for helping Irving in it’s Waste Recycling Contest!  For more information about he contest click here.
