Counselor’s Corner

January 2019

Happy 2019!

Thank you to the amazing Irving community for your incredible generosity with Irving’s Coin Drive and Holiday Help Gift Card Program this year!  We far exceeded our goal of $500 and raised over $1,400!!!  Because of this, we were able to help several families this holiday season.  The families were tremendously grateful and we at Irving sincerely thank you all.

In counseling lessons for January, I am focusing on: difference and similarities between people (Kindergarten), personal space (1st grade), dealing with frustration (2nd grade), bullying prevention/rumors (3rd and 4th grades) and peer pressure (5th grade).

In mid-January, I will begin a new round of skill-building groups for all grades.  The emphases of these groups are: Changing Families for K-2 and 3-5, and a Girls Leadership Group (5th grade), using material from Ophelia’s Place.  These groups will continue meeting through March.

As always, please check-in with your child to hear the latest regarding our classroom guidance visits!
