Smarter Balanced Testing Is Here

Families – the SBAC state test window has opened at Fairfield. Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will be testing for the next 8 weeks. If you know it is your child’s week to test you can best support them by doing the following:

  • Encourage them – let them know they can do their best by giving their best effort
  • Make sure they get some rest – have a designated bed time that gives them ample rest
  • Encourage them to make sure to eat breakfast in the morning

Kids have been working so hard all year. We know that the efforts of their hard work will show.

Play Works Recess Week

So many families have volunteered for this week and we are so appreciative!! This week we are re-teaching students rules for popular playground games such as – SWITCH, WALL BALL, FOUR-SQUARE, BASKETBALL BUMP, JUMP ROPE, and our Play Works game of the week which looks like an organized game of TAG. If you are interested in helping out for a chunk of time between 9:45 and 12:45, please let me know.

The idea behind Play Works is to encourage students to participate in an organized game, to practice sportsmanship, to encourage each other, and to give all students an opportunity to feel included. Please let me know if you are interested in helping out!

Student Safety Alert

We are sharing the following information at the recommendation of Eugene Police.

Around 12:30 today, Tuesday April 4th, a man in a white SUV allegedly tried to kidnap a young woman who was on foot near Everyone’s Market on Echo Hollow Road.

The young woman – who is not a student – managed to escape and is safe and unharmed, but police want everyone to be aware of their surroundings and keep an eye out for a white GMC Yukon with tinted windows.

Again, no one was harmed but students are asked to be especially aware of their surroundings.

Bethel’s updating its science curriculum for the coming school year, looking for one that will include new learning expectations.

Snow Day Make-Up Schedule Posted

FF Snow

Hi Fairfield Families,

We are excited to share the District’s finalized plans to make up lost classroom time due to the six Snow Days and two Delayed Starts we’ve already experienced. These changes will allow our students to recover meaningful instructional time without putting a big dent in family summer plans.

Here are the new changes. Please make sure to mark them on your calendar.

  • February 13 (previously a high school no-school day) will become a school day for all district students
  • February 20 (Presidents Day) will become a school day for all students
  • March 3 (previously a no-school day for K-8 students) will become a school day for all students
  • Monday June 19th, and Tuesday June 20thwill be full school days for K-11 students (seniors will have graduated)
  • June 20thwill now be the last day of school for students (it will be a full-day, not an early release)
  • If we have additional Snow Days this winter they may be added to the calendar after June 20th

Please mark these changes on your calendar and plan to have your child in school on these days.  All Bethel students will now be in the classroom for more hours than is required by the state, and we want to provide as much meaningful instructional time as possible. The cancelled school days have shown that each day of instruction is important for our children.

Thanks for your patience as the schedule was being reworked, and let me know if you have any questions.

541-689-3751.
