No School Monday

Monday, February 18th, is a No School Day for all Bethel students in honor of President’s Day.

Kidsports Vouchers

If your child interested in playing a spring sport through Kidsports and you are unable to pay the registration fees, please contact our school office (541-688-8735).

As a result of generous donations from the Zip-O-Logs Mills and Arauco businesses, we have vouchers for Danebo students that cover the cost of most registration fees.

Thank you to Kidsports for providing the registration vouchers and to the two businesses listed above for sponsoring Danebo students.

CMN Coin Drive and Bracelets

Danebo students were enlightened and entertained by students from Willamette High School this week.

Participants from the Wolverine Pageant shared information about the Children’s Miracle Network fundraiser that they are doing and about how students at Danebo can help.

On Tuesday, each classroom (and the office) will have coin buckets for students and families to donate spare change. The coin collection will run through March 1st and the class that brings in the most money will earn a pizza lunch party (donated by Izzy’s pizza). Thanks for helping our Wolverine Contestants and for helping our students learn about the virtue of giving.

In addition, the Wolverine Pageant contestants left bracelets for us to sell for $2 each. The bracelets say, “Wolverine Pageant” and “Kids Helping Kids” and will be on sale for the next few weeks in the cafeteria at breakfast each morning.

Save the Date

Our 3rd annual Family ReadingFun Night is scheduled for Thursday, February 28th from 6-7:30.

We will have a free pizza/salad dinner for all Danebo families, followed by fun reading-centered activities in each quad.

We are hopeful that we will also be able to send each student home with a free book, courtesy of Smith Family Bookstore and the Javon and Jesse Memorial Book Foundation.

More info to come in Tuesday folders, so stay tuned!

Have You Seen Our Lost and Found?

Our lost and found hooks are overflowing in the cafeteria! Please encourage your child to look through them to see if any of their lost jackets can be found!

Our Lost & Found Hooks are FULL! Please help us find homes for the clothing on the hooks!

If you’d like to look through the clothing items yourself, please feel free to do that by stopping in the office to sign in as a visitor.

Cascade Report

There is some important news to share. The District Attorney has released the final report of the investigation into the recent incident at Cascade, and video from the police officers’ cameras is also being released.

It is important to realize that the video could be very disturbing.

We are sharing this information so that you will be able to support your children who may access the video on their own through multiple sites. It is our interest to help your children avoid any unnecessary emotional trauma that could be caused by viewing the video.

Please check with me if you believe your child needs extra counseling support at school. Here is information you might find helpful when talking to your child.

Finally, all respect goes to the staff and students at Cascade Middle School. Their resilience has been inspiring and extraordinary.
