Bethel School District Eugene OR

A message from Clear Lake

Dear Clear Lake Families,
I know this time is bringing uncertainty and lots of questions. I want you to know we are thinking of our students and miss them terribly. We are in uncertain times and doing the best we can to provide community supports. Bethel is working very hard to meet the immediate needs of students and families. They have opened 10 sites to provide meals and have provided 683 meals today!   We have also shared community resources for health access, mental health supports, and housing assistance. (Check the blog for locations and additional resources)
I can’t tell you exactly what is next. As a district, we are rapidly responding to the constant, changing updates while trying to plan further ahead without a clear idea of what the future will look like. Yesterday the Governor issued an executive order to close schools until April 28th. In addition, schools are to provide supplemental education. In the next day or so, ODE will offer guidance on what “supplemental education” entails. This morning our district leaders and admin team met via ZOOM (virtual meeting) to begin planning and figure out what the next steps will be.
Next week is spring break and our staff will not be working. After spring break, teachers will continuing their planning for supplemental instruction (with ODE guidance). This will likely include a combination of online and paper pencil learning opportunities. Soon, schools will be reaching out to families to survey technology access. This work is happening district-wide and we continue to prepare to meet the varying needs and levels of learners across all grades. This is combined with our need to provide equitable access to resources for ALL students. I understand that this information may create more questions than answers. Hang in there, deep breaths and be patient. We will continue to communicate as we know more.
Rest up and stay healthy! We miss our Clear Lake family and the amazing energy of our school. We are in unusual times and need to come together as a community. It is important for us to reach out to those in need, continue to check in with family and friends and practice kindness daily. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support your family. We will get through this together. We appreciate all of you. Our hearts are with you even if we cannot physically be with you. Keep practicing adequate social distancing… 🙂
Stay Healthy,

Karyn
