More on colt

Colt Gill is the superintendent of Bethel School District in Eugene, Oregon. Colt tries to make a difference in kids’ lives. As a school district administrator he is focused on improving school leadership and supporting instruction in the classroom so all students can achieve at high levels and realize success in our community after graduation.

Colt grew up in Lane County, attending Springfield Public Schools, Lane Community College, and earning degrees in elementary education and education policy management at the University of Oregon.

He has been an educator in Oregon for 22 years, serving as a teacher, principal, district technology director, curriculum & instruction director, assistant superintendent, and now superintendent.

Colt focuses on statewide leadership and policy issues by serving as the school district superintendent advisor to the Oregon State Board of Education. He also participates as an elected Zone Director to the Oregon Association of School Executives, as an elected member of the Oregon Funding Coalition Steering Committee and as an appointed member of the Oregon Leadership Network Steering Committee.

Locally, Colt serves as an adjunct professor at the UO, teaching a number of classes including Advanced Curriculum Design & Delivery, Instructional Technology Integration, and several modules for the Initial Administrative Licensure Program.

In our community, Colt serves on the Board of United Way of Lane County, chairing their thriving Success By 6 and Promise Neighborhood initiatives. He also volunteers locally on the Boards of the Lane Coalition for Healthy Active Youth and Health Policy Research Northwest, focusing on the well-being of our community’s youth. Colt was a volunteer coach for his son’s KidSports soccer team for nine years.
