Champions! WHS Takes State Culinary Title

The Willamette Culinary Team, with the leadership of teacher Martha Humphreys (front), has won the state Culinary championship.

The Willamette High School Culinary team has won the Oregon State ProStart Culinary Championship, the school’s first state Culinary title since 2007.

They will be traveling to Providence, Rhode Island next month to compete against all the other state champions in the country.

Congratulations to team members Cole Barnhardt, Tyler Livingston, Shane Wilder, Taylor Woolett, Jessica Barnhardt, teacher Martha Humphreys and coaches Jesus Diaz, Bruce Cameron and Erin Emmert.

Cole Barnhardt also won the Oregon ProStart student of the year award and a $1,000 scholarship to an Oregon culinary school of his choice.
