Kalapuya Graduates Seniors…And A Principal

Retiring principal Fred Crisman shows his honorary diploma to Kalapuya's graduating seniors.

The class of 2011 at Kalapuya High School was one person more than anticipated. Fred Crisman, retiring as Kalapuya’s Principal, was awarded a KHS diploma.

Crisman was a high school dropout; he joined the military and earned his GED before going to college to become an educator.

At Kalapuya’s commencement Superintendent Colt Gill surprised Crisman with an honorary diploma to conclude Crisman’s final graduation ceremony.

Crisman was one of the designers and founders of Kalapuya and its alternative program, and has been the school’s only principal since it opened in 2002.

    Congrats Fred!

I taught Language Arts Night School several years ago and loved the students and you! You are my role model in education, and I wish you peace, love, & happiness on your retirement.

    Best Wishes,

Our son Corey attends Kalapuya High School at the present, after attending Bethel public schools his entire schooling career. I have never gotten a chance to personally meet Mr Crisman but have pleasantly spoken with him on the phone.

My son Corey always spoke very highly of this gentleman and it also appears a few more do also.

I have no reason to doubt our son Corey or Superintendent Colt Gill’s letter about Mr Crisman. He is a stand up man and listens to parents and their children’s concerns when issues arise, and is very quick to resolve any issues or concerns we parents in the Bethel School District might have.

I will be looking forward to my son’s graduation from Kalapuya and shaking the hands of those who contributed to our son Corey’s success with the beginning of his schooling and onto adulthood.

I would also like to ad for what it is worth, we have met lots of kids, parents, teachers, family, and community leaders in Eugene. This district has its issues, like most, but they can always be ironed out!
